Imagine you are given a nickle to hold in each hand. Now close each hand tightly over each nickel.
If someone were to ask you, “Can you help me, I’m poor & anything you could spare would help?”. Would you be able to help them with your hands TIGHTLY closed???
Now imagine (your hands still tightly closed over each nickel) that someone comes to you & says, “I would like to give you a quarter for each of your nickels.” Would you be able to receive this blessing with your hands so TIGHTLY closed???
When we are so concerned about holding onto what we are given, we miss out on both being able to bless others & to be blessed as well.
God gives us not only to meet our needs, but also to teach us to be good stewards of what He has given us.
Proverbs 11:25: “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed”
Many times I have been surprised at how doing something for someone to bless them ended up blessing me more than I think I was blessing them. And many times they weren’t even aware how much of a blessing that God was working out through us.
So, dear friends, I encourage each of us to hold our hands out OPEN, so as to NOT miss the blessings God is purposing our hands to give & receive.
