Bullets Flying Everywhere
Are bullets flying everywhere? I know there are times in life in which we think we are constantly ducking and dodging bullets. Is it that bullets are flying everywhere or could it be more attributed to the paths we have chosen to follow.
There is one thing that I often endured while serving in the Gulf. Bullets flying everywhere, or so it seemed. While it certainly was a fact that I endured, there were actually things I could do to ensure that I didn’t become a victim of one of those flying bullets.
Members of the various military branches rely upon sophisticated equipment to help protect us from bullets flying everywhere. Everything from protective Kevlar vests, helmets, and even under-armor that was resistant to the penetration of ballistic rounds that may come our way.
Staying Clear of Bullets Flying Everywhere
Life isn’t always about the bullets that fly our way. More often than not, it is about ensuring that we are not on a path that will lead us into harms way.
Let me use my past life of being both a drug addict as well as a well-functioning alcoholic. If you choose to place yourself into an environment that is heavily filled with potential traps that are line with those flying bullets.
Here’s where so many people mess it up! Rather than looking for ways to steer clear of those paths, for some reason we seem to dive head first down the road that will ultimately lead to paths of destruction and heartache.
Even Jesus Ducked The Flying Bullets
While they didn’t actually have bullets in Jesus’ day, they certainly had just as many other item’s that could lead to destruction both physically and spiritually. Just as we do in today’s world.
You see, people often use the excuse that Jesus didn’t suffer from the things that we do in today’s world. Sadly, Jesus was tempted to even greater imaginations than any of us have ever faced in our lives.
Read Matthew 4: 1-11
4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]”
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]”
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]”
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]”
11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
